Well, I'm pleased to report that Chickpea cooperated this morning and showed us that...he is a Garbanzo! That's right--another boy! And hopefully a healthy one. Kaiser botched my appointment scheduling, so we won't get the technical results (about health and such) for a couple of days, but the ultrasound tech seemed very calm and chatted happily with us the whole time, so we're assuming all looked well. If anything looked terribly amiss, I think she probably would've paused nervously or something, but she seemed placid and happy the whole time. (The only bit I DID find out was that the baby's placenta is in a good position for a natural birth if we opt for that over C-section. So that's very good to know!)
We have several pictures of the little guy, which I shall post below. Theo has his very own copy of a picture of his baby brother, and he's carrying it everywhere--so sweet!
Since Chickpea is a rather girly name, we shall heretofore refer to the little fellow as "Garbanzo." And, because I'm feeling happy and benevolent today, I will share our girl names, as promised. Boy names are still under wraps and shall remain that way for 4 1/2 months! But as for girl names, which we will now never use.... The leading contender for a middle name was Joy, because of the joy our kids bring us. First-name contenders (in alphabetical order, not order of preference) were: Amelia, Caroline, Cecilia, Emeline, Etienne (we would've called her "Etta"; Etienne is French for Steven, which was my Dad's name, and we thought it was both pretty and a nice tribute), Genevieve, Isla, Mattea (this means "Gift from God"--same as Theo's name--and although we're not into organized religion, we both really like that sentiment), Melissa, Robyn, and Skylar.
So now you know... And we can't WAIT to meet our second son in 4 1/2 months or so!
